Praised by JR Ward as a "paranormal star," New York Times bestselling author Stephanie Rowe takes readers into the dangerous, mysterious world of the Louisiana bayou, a haunted land where vampires are more than myths and the hot nights are made for passion.

Bold and arrogant, loner Eric Hunter allows himself to care about nothing, except his missing brother. He will not stop until he finds him, even if it means teaming up with a bold, sensual woman who awakens in him the dark cravings he has denied for so long.

An ancient vampire has coveted Jordyn Leahy since she was a child, haunting her sleep, demanding her soul and her flesh. After decades of silence, he has returned to ruthlessly claim the woman who once denied him. Only the aloof and mysterious Eric holds the key to her survival...or does he?

As the deep of night closes in, Jordyn and Eric must fight the battle of their lives, in a quest for survival in a world where hunger rules, desire destroys, and eternity means no second chances. Love is their only chance, but love is the most dangerous risk of all.

"Stephanie Rowe writes with a wit reminiscent of bestselling author J.R. Ward, and an imagination that authors envy." ~Romance Fiction on Suite101.com

3.5 stars.

My favorite part about this book was Jordyn. She was hilarious! She is so matter a fact and witty that most of what she says is quite funny. I haven't read dialogue like this ever and it was really entertaining. I loved that she knew exactly the kind of woman she was and what she could deal with in life. She had lots of tragedy in her in life but she still has hope in her heart. This lady is one stubborn and determined woman when she sets her mind to something and it was greatly appreciated as a reader to see such vigilance.

One of my favorite lines in the book that I thought was so funny:

He glanced outside at the ground. He could smell how rich it was, almost as if it were calling to him.
Jordyn followed his glance. "Dirt? You want dirt?"

I just thought this was so hilarious!

I didn't give it five stars because there were many parts in the book that were slow because they were both trying to figure out their own troubles and trying to get through turmoil with both of their crazy lives. I also thought there could have been more background story to Tristan and Jordyn's friendship. They had to be more close than meeting at a graveyard if he decided she needed to live multiple times. I needed more background story on the villain, how did he get so powerful? Was he always powerful? How did he get turned? Will we find any of this out in the next book?

Not Quite Dead A NightHunter Novel edition by Stephanie Rowe Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

Unusual twin brothers, no, make that extraordinary brothers, driven by lust while possessing secret powers that slowly are peeled like an orange revealing or at least giving the reader a glimpse at their origins. Danger lurks at every step in Louisiana's bayous as one of the brothers pursues the other, a journey intertwined with intrigue with the heroine of the story and both brothers constantly at risk. Whatever the risks and dangers, the very human trait of protecting her prevails. An exciting and sensuous journey bent on rescue. I know I need not ask for more from this prolific author, rather, stay in touch and continue to be a fan.
Another great by Stephanie Rowe! I recently found her by reading the 1st Order of The Blade book and devoured the series. This one is a spin off of 2 characters we meet in that series and I loved them so I had to read this one too...I'm so glad I did. Jordyn & Eric are one of my favorite couples! Strong characters. Great writing!
I have learned that you really can't go wrong reading a book by Stepanie Rowe. I have read all of the Order of the Blade series so far and did not realize this was a spinoff until I started reading. This book had the same feel but undead of dealing with rogue Calydons it deals with obsessive vampires.
I loved this book but did not give it 5 stars for one reason. I felt like some of the internal/external fight scenes were too drawn out for me. As much as I love Stephanie's writing, I found myself thinking ok let's get this over already.
Otherwise, I really loved this book and can't wait for the next book I the series.
It was good to see what happened to Jordyn after she left the jungle with Eric. This is a great story of struggling to do the right thing to take out a evil vampire. This had me on the edge of my seat hoping all the good guys didn't die. I hope to see what comes next.
It was a good read. In comparison to the series this is a spin-off of, I prefer the other. That could also be because I literally finished it, then started this without knowing what to expect. I don't know if this will become a series or was just a shift. It seems interesting enough, and I'd most likely read the series if it turns into one because there is a lot of potential and different things that can be done with the storylines Rowe has set up here. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because in addition to the jolt of the different storyline (a personal issue), there were some things that I think should have been fleshed out more whether that was done by adding more background and explanation or just simply the details chosen to explain what was there being done differently to make some instances more clear (i.e. the basement and cell scene).
I think this book was even better, her books are still awesome but getting even better, I couldn't stop turning pages and my kids were not very happy that I found this author since they have had to eat sandwiches for dinner a couple of times now!! I seriously have to make myself stop reading with a LOT of my own brain trying to talk me into "just one more page and it will be a better place to stop" going on inside myself lol, when you find an author that makes you argue with yourself, you can make a safe bet that you need to read their books! This book was amazing and I totally love Stephanie Rowe's imagination. If you like paranormal fiction you will like this author!!
Stephanie Rowe has written another great story. It is a great transitional story from her Order of the Blade series that expands on characters we met in the last Order book (Darkness Possessed).

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I fell in love with Jordyn and Eric. Their story incorporates romance & action with some vampires and magic. She is a tough as nails woman who has survived great tragedy in her life and he is a sexy cocky (not really human) guy with a heart of gold. Together they battle an ancient evil along with their own demons.

Stephanie Rowe fans will enjoy this book and those who have not read her before will also enjoy this and they want to read her other works as well. She draws the reader in with her descriptive story and characters.

Can't wait for more!
